Learning in progress & Face to Face Hui

Hello whanau,

This term we would like to welcome into our whanau group, Jimmee Brass (Japanese), Aira Cabatingan (L1 Economic), Tiana Jones (L2/3 Spanish), Kielin Hunter (Chinese), Mairaatea Mohi (L2/3 Korean) and Teina Cassidy (L3 Music). In addition e-Vol numbers have grown this term, starting off with 16 and we are now at 23 students.  We also welcome our two junior pre-NCEA spanish learners Maria Tini and Shay Tahana.
Below are just a few pics of our girls in progress. Below is Kayla in her L3 Web Design class, she is progressing nicely and have settled into her work effortlessly.  She has done very well keeping up with her VC's this term and currently working towards completing her first Web Design assessment.

Picture 2: Is Vaishali is listening attentively to her teacher (Mr. Beech) Level 2 Accounting class.  This term she has managed to complete a few tasks this term, to her teacher's satisfaction.  She may have missed a few VC (voice conference) but she has always made sure her teacher is well informed.



Face to Face Hui with their teachers, earlier this month our girls had an opportunity to meet with their online teachers.  We had 44 teachers, deans, and principals attend our annual face to face Hui. The day was spent getting to know who's who in our circle of VLN (Virtual Learning Network).  The launch of our new website was also presented and well received by all.  
The most significant part of this hui was connecting students with their teachers on the day.  The girls freaked at first upon seeing their teachers in person.  Getting past the nerves, some of our girls made the most of their time and really took this opportunity to ask questions, go through assessments and achievement objectives.  Connections was made, relationships established and goals set in place.
 FACE TO FACE HUI... Launch of Evolcanics website and presentation of ZOOM - online video conferencing software.  Shortly after we all broke into our respective departments, where I got to introduce and meet my fellow Deans from around the North Island.  We then had opportunities to share and discuss BES practices within each school.  Hot on our topic was using google classroom and blogging, both right up my alley - so I was happy to lead the korero on this one.  It was
